Richfield Middle School is located in Richfield, Minnesota, a first-ring suburb just south of Minneapolis. Our community is mostly residential and very supportive of our schools. Our boundaries are, roughly: Highway 494 to the south, Highway 62 to the north, Xerxes Avenue to the west, and Cedar Avenue to the east.
We are a 6th through 8th-grade middle school organized into grade-level teams themed around Big 10 Universities. We offer a variety of specialized services such as Gifted/Talented, Special Education, DLI (dual language immersion in Spanish), ESL, and Reading and Math tier classes.
In addition to the core academics (math, language arts, science, and social studies), exploratory classes are offered to each student. These opportunities broaden the student's perspective on the world of learning and expose them to new ideas and skills. Exploratory classes also serve to spark student interest in subjects that they may take as electives in high school. RMS exploratory classes include health, physical education, STEM, choir/band/general music, Spanish, art, industrial technology, and computer skills.
